West Virginia Home has instituted the WVHOME.COM Legal Advisory so posters have some idea about the number of contacts the Webmaster receives regarding posts that are believed to be either libelous or harassing in nature.  The advisory has the following meanings: 

SEVERE - The Webmaster receives a court order to turn over someone's ISP number.

HIGH - The Webmaster has been contacted by an attorney due to statements made on this site.

ELEVATED - The Webmaster has been contacted by a victim of a harassing or libelous post made on this site with the threat of suit.

GUARDED - The Webmaster has been contacted by a victim of a harassing or libelous post made on this site.

LOW - There have been no contacts made within the past week.

I have been saying this for some time now and will repeat myself again.  This is a "small town" bulletin board which is widely used.  When something is written it gets noticed fairly quickly.  It is just a matter of time before someone gets called into court, with the help of a court order, due to their bad choice of words.  I have talked to people who are ready to throw down a few thousand bucks just to find out who posted something (and these people have the money to do it).  If they fail to prove harassment or libel at least they will have exposed the writer.  When this occurs the Webmaster will be there with camera and tape recorder in hand to fully document the events so all the readers and posters can see what happens when the wrong words are chosen or the wrong adversary is picked on.  

Freedom of Speech is our most important right.  Please use it wisely!
